1. What is the difference between cold-pressed CBD and other extraction methods? Why is cold-pressed CBD better?

There are three commonly used extraction methods: CO2 extraction, solvent extraction (commonly using food grade ethanol), and cold-press extraction.

You may have heard of CO2 extraction, in which CO2 is forced through the hemp plant in a 'supercritical' state. While a relatively clean and efficient way to extract CBD, this raises the temperature of the substance and many beneficial compounds like terpenes are lost. Solvent extraction involves washing or soaking plant trimmings in a substance such as food-grade ethanol to extract the plant trimmings. While cost effective, this method also extracts chlorophyll, which could lead to undesirable side effects.

The cold-press method passes the whole plant through a press at high pressure and low temperature, and results in a distillate oil that retains all its cannabinoids, flavonoids, and terpenes, at the ratios found in nature. It is much harder to scale and has a lower yield, but the end-product is much better, and that is what we are going for!

2. Why does Kinko Broad-Spectrum CBD Tincture oil turn pink over time?

When the polyphenol oxidase enzyme in pure MCT oil is exposed to high quality CBD distillate, oxygen, and light, it develops a pink hue.

So don’t be alarmed! Your CBD did not spoil. Apart from the spectacular transitions, the pink color is actually an indication of our products’ purity. CBD products using lower quality MCT oils don't generally change color!

3. How is Kinko CBD oil a 'premium' product?

While most hemp oil is imported from China or Eastern Europe, we partner directly with small-batch organic farms located in Colorado, United States. When the hemp plant growns, it generally absorbs everything in the soil. That means that if the plant is grown in soil containing harmful contaminants, such as pesticides or lead, they will show up in the oil extract you are ingesting. Colorado soil is famed for its purity, and our growing partnes have even won national awards at the 2019 Colorado Indo Expo!

In addition, hemp farmers in the United States are required to hold special licenses for growing hemp crops, and the seeds and soil are inspected thoroughly for quality. Once the hemp-plant reaches peak maturity, we extract the plant compounds and refind throughdewaxing to remove wax, winterization to remove lipids, and steam distillation to isolate and remove any THC or CBN. The end result is a product we are proud to call 'premium.'

4. Will Kinko CBD oil show up on a drug test?

Our products go through an extensive process to remove THC and CBN and are thoroughly tested to ensure levels are non-detectable. That being said, CBD oil does come from the hemp plant, which in itself contains low levels THC in unprocessed form, so while its very unikely you will fail a drug test, the possibility can not be ruled out.

If you are subject to a zero-tolerance drug policy at work or elsewhere, do be aware that some extremely sensitive drug tests could possibly pick up trace amounts of THC.

5. Where do you test your products? Can I see a COA (Certification of Analysis?)

Our products go through testing twice; once when the CBB distilatte is bottled and shipped to us, and again when we receive the product to doubly ensure it's quality. We partner with Botanacor, one of the leading US hemp and hemp-derived products testing laboratories to guaranytee our products. We thorougly test not only for potency, but also for pesticides and heavy metals. While we are working on putting the full list of lab results on our website, if you would like to see a COA for your product in the meantime, you can email us at hello@kinkolabs.com

6. What are the ingredients in your products?

Our CBD products are made with natural, honest ingredients. We try to make our oils as simply as possible with no unnecessary additives. Our broad spectrum oil contains only CBD Distilate, MCT oil, and cold-pressed mint oil (for flavored tinctures only). All ingredients we use in our oils are certified organic.

7. Are your products THC and CBN free?

Yes; our products go through a thorough process to remove THC and CBN while retaining not only CBD but also minor cannabinoids and terpenes. Any presence of these compounds cannot be detected in our products.

8. Are your products organic?

Yes, our products are all made with only certified organic ingredients.

1. What is CBD?

CBD is short for cannabidiol, and is one of several compounds found naturally in both hemp and cannabis plants. These compounds are called phyto-cannabinoids and play a role in maintaining bodily homeostasis as well as have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

2. Where does it come from and how is it made?

CBD can be extracted from either hemp or cannabis plants. We use phytocannabinoid-rich hemp, which contains higher concentrations of CBD, CBG, CBC, and other beneficial cannabinoids as well as a lower level of THC and CBN (the compounds found in cannabis that cause a 'high') compared to cannabis plants. The CBD distillate used in our products is created in three steps:

1. We cold-press the hemp plant at high pressure and low temperatures to obtain a concentrate of terpenes, cannabinoids, and plant matter.

2. The concentrate goes through winterization to remove unwanted elements extracted from the plant, such as fats, waxes, and lipids. We now have a refined oil with beneficial plant extracts.

3. To further refine the product, the oil goes through short-path distillation to remove unwanted compounds such as THC and CBN.

3. How does CBD work? What is the endocannabinoid system?

Phytocannabinoids such as cannabidiol interact with our body's central regulatory system, known as the endocannabinoid system. This system maintains homeostasis and affects our overall wellbeing. Our bodies have cannabinoid receptors and naturally makes endocannabinoid neurotransmitters for this purpose. Phytocannabinoids such as CBD can mimic and affect our bodies' neurotransmitters and interact with the receptors in our endocannabinoid system that regulate our bodies at a cellular level. Through the endocannabinoid system, these compounds can beneficially impact our immune system, nervous system, endocrine system, digestive system, heart, liver, epidermis, and others.

4. What are the benefits of taking CBD?

CBD has a myriad of beneficial effects on our body and manifests differently depending on your needs. CBD works by complementing our bodies and inducing homeostasis. The key benefits you can expect are

Pain relief: CBD is a powerful anti-inflammatory and can reduce pain, swelling, and stiffness, as well as helping stimulate stronger immune responses.

Sleep and stress relief: CBD affects the release of cortisol (the stress hormone), decreasing it's levels. People with insomnia often have higher cortisol levels at night, affecting sleep. By reducing cortisol, CBD can help put you to sleep. CBD for sleep does often require higher doses, so spend some time finding the right dosage for you!

Inducing calm and relaxation: CBD can reduce anxiety and racing thoughts by affecting the serotonin levels in your brain, the chemical that regulates mood, happiness, and anxiety.

Focus: CBD boosts both serotonin and dopamine, the 'feel good' hormones in your brain. Dopamine is in charge of our memory, mental awareness, and most importantly, focus. When dopamine levels are low, our concentration and attention levels drop. By boosting these levels with CBD, we improve mental clarity and focus.

The more pure the product, the better the effects, so make sure you do your research before taking the plunge!

5. Is CBD safe? Will it make me high?

According to research, as well as the World Health Organization, CBD has been found to exhibit no effects of abuse or dependence potential. Additionally, since THC and CBN have been removed, it will not make you high nor impair your ability to function. This means you can safely take CBD and enjoy the benefits with peace of mind.

6. What is the difference between 'full spectrum,' 'broad spectrum' and 'isolate' CBD products?

The difference between broad spectrum, full spectrum and CBD isolate is simply the chemical compound content found in each of the products.

Full spectrum CBD contains all of the cannabinoids and other plant compounds. Broad spectrum CBD contains all cannabinoids and plant compounds other than THC (and in our case, CBN).

CBD isolate only contains CBD and is often found in crystal or powder form.

Since we use broad-spectrum CBD in all our products, we retain all minor cannbinoids and terpenes in our products, meaning you get the most out of every drop!

7. What is the 'entourage effect'?

The entourage effect is the finding that CBD is more effective when it is ingested with other cannabinoids at the same time. The hemp plant contains dozens of different cannabinoids and terpenes that each have their own unique properties. CBD may be the most beneficial from a wellness standpoint, but teamwork with the other compounds can actually boost the performance of CBD and its ability to positively impact the endocannabinoid system! That's why at Kinko, we prefer using broad-spectrum CBD to tap into the full power of the entourage effect!

8. What are terpenes?

Terpenes are organic compounds found within a hemp plant’s resin glands (trichomes) and are responsible for the flavor and smell profiles. They also have therapeutic benefits on their own, and boost the efficacy of broad spectrum CBD products!

1. In what concentrations do you sell your tinctures? What concentration is right for me?

Our tinctures come in 2.5% (750mg CBD), 5% (1500mg CBD), and 10% (3000mg CBD) concentrations stores in 30ml tincture bottles. If you are new to CBD, we reccomend our 2.5% tincture. This is best for beginners as you will have more precise control over dosage amounts and can slowly work your way up to the amount that works for you. Our 5% tincture is great for those that are more experienced and looking for a higher concentration per serving. Ouir ultra-strenght 3000mg tincture is one of the strongest on the market today, and offers great value for experienced CBD users.

Pro tip: Our tinctures are identical except for their concentration. You get more bang for your buck with the more concentrated version; you can take less oil while receiving the same CBD concentration!

2. What dosage level is right for me?

The ideal serving size depends on a few variables such as your age, body type, CBD tolerance, level or discomfort/pain, diet, exercise, etc. We generally reccomend between 1 and 6mg of CBD per 5 kilos of body weight daily, and servings of 10 to 60mg are commonly reported for general health maintenance. Higher servings above 100mg a day are not harmful, but is not reccomended unless being used to treat a specific disorder as reccomended by a doctor. For more information, you can visit our comperehensive dosage guide.

3. How do I take it?

After filling the dropper with the desired amount of oil, place the serving under your tongue. Hold for 30 seconds. For maximum effectiveness, use your tongue to gently apply the oil to your inner cheeks. Take a few deep breaths and then swallow.

Why can’t I just swallow it?

While swallowing the oil poses no threat and may still be effective, taking the oil sublingually (under your tongue), allows for maximum and rapid absorption into your blood stream. When you swallow it immediately, cannabinoids still reach the blood stream, but it's absorbed much more slowly and some of its effectiveness may be lost through the gastric walls in the stomach.

4. How do I open the bottle?

Our tinctures are outfitted with child proof, non-drip bottles. To open your bottle, press down on cap and twist counterclockwise. To close, twist clockwise untill you feel the cap pop up slightly.

5. How should I store my tincture?

Store your tincture in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Some of our customers like to store their tinctures in the fridge.

6. Do your tinctures have an expiration date?

Kinko tinctures are good for one year after the delivery date.
